Biography

Biography

Stephen Kidd is a photographer and film director known for his minimalist aesthetic in the fashion and luxury sectors. His experimental work often explores the boundaries between still and moving imagery.

Stephen Kidd grew up on Vancouver Island in Canada and studied Theatre and Film at the University of British Columbia. After his studies, he moved to Europe where he started working as a portrait photographer in Vienna. He later moved to Paris where he worked as an assistant for various fashion photographers while continuing his own personal work in experimental moving imagery.

In 2012 Stephen began working as a Director of Photography for Peter Lindbergh.  Over the next 7 years, Stephen collaborated with Peter on more than 60 films, both for editorial and advertising clients.

Stephen now works as a photographer and director for many commercial clients in fashion and luxury. His fascination with how images are perceived has led to an exploration of how various mediums relate to each other and how photography and film are both interconnected and polar opposite.
