Luigi and Iango | Corpi Speciali | Exhibition GNAMC Roma October 13 to November 30, 2026

From October 13 to November 29, 2026, the Galleria Nazionale d’arte Moderna e Contemporanea
in Rome presents Special Bodies, an exhibition dedicated to Luigi & Iango, one of the most
acclaimed photographic duos on the contemporary international scene. Curated by Francesca
Alfano Miglietti and produced and organized by Tenderstories, the exhibition is held under the
patronage of the City of Rome and Cinecittà.
The exhibition features over 100 photos on display —including previously unseen works and iconic
images—in Luigi & Iango’s first exhibition to develop a reflection on the body as a site of identity,
transformation, and symbolic construction in the contemporary world. The photographs, portraying
leading figures from contemporary culture, performers, dancers, and international icons, form a
human atlas capable of reflecting the tensions and metamorphoses of our time.
The works selected for this exhibition by Francesca Alfano Miglietti—one of the foremost authorities
on themes of bodily transformation and the changing nature of the contemporary body—move
beyond the conventions of fashion photography to embrace a broader dimension in which
portraiture assumes both poetic and political significance. Fragmented bodies, suspended between
vulnerability and monumentality, traverse the exhibition space in a dramaturgy of light and shadow
that questions the relationship between vision, desire, and authenticity.
The visual research of the duo unfolds within a liminal territory where photography transcends mere
representation and becomes a critical tool for investigating the condition of the contemporary body,
producing images that challenge the mechanisms of visibility and identity construction.
